Panorama Image Details:
The links on the right will take you to a series of four kinetic panoramic images. Each panorama is shown in four closeups in the additional still images.

Panorama One
Inspired by Tiffaney’s own motherhood experiences and reflections on how aggressive the world is becoming, as well as the escalating and indiscriminate targeting of women and children during conflict. Tiffaney, like so many other mothers and women around the world believes there is a groundswell of interest in changing the way we deal with conflict. Grieving mothers and women all over the world are raising their voices.

Panorama Two
An exploration of the universal theme of motherhood and the grief bearing tomorrow’s soldiers (or civilian targets) can bring. Tiffaney’s montages include images from different generations and different lands but they are no less potent or relevant today. Images of Tiffaney’s own family are often placed within the montages creating a timeless picture of the world and a sad indictment of how little has changed.

Panorama Three
Reflects on the way the world deals with conflict highlighting the gender imbalance that has existed and still exists today when trying to resolve conflict. The images recall the male dominated history of the great conflicts of our time and attempts to subvert this trend by offering a notion of gender equality for future conflict resolution processes. Tiffaney, like many others, believes that women possess great insight and temperament when it comes to mediating conflict and her work challenges us to reconsider what many believe to be an outdated conflict resolution model.

Panorama Four
Illustrates how Tiffaney’s montages begin and develop. The layer by layer process is often very time consuming, taking weeks even months to finesse and tweak. The edges of each image are carefully softened and blended so as the final montage appears seamless - creating one monumental moment, or statement, from many historical and contemporary moments. Because the appropriated imagery is often a little flat, missing tonal definition, much time is spent adding highlight and shadow detail to the foundation images. The build up of light and shadow detail adds depth and dimension to the images as well as a sense of drama to the final statement.
